Ingredients
  1. 1 stick margarine
  2. 1 c. grated sharp cheese (1/4 lb.)
  3. 1/2 t. salt
  4. 1 c. self-rising flour
  5. 1/8 t. cayenne (or dash Tabasco)
  6. 1 c. Rice Krispies
Instructions
  1. Cream margarine, salt, and cayenne. Beat in grated cheese. Stir in flour and cereal. Roll in balls, flatten a little, and place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake about 15 minutes at 325°.
Notes
  1. Jean Walker would make these for festive occasions, including the annual teachers Christmas party at Whittle Springs Junior High School. She was in her element as hostess. I attended the party for several years and enjoyed hearing from other teachers how loved and respected Jean was.

Baked Mexican Dip

Ingredients

  • 8 oz. cream cheese
  • 1/2 pt. sour cream
  • 8 oz. grated mozzarella cheese
  • 4 oz. shredded cheddar cheese
  • 25 drops tabasco sauce
  • 1 can (16 oz.) refried beans
  • 2 T. Old El Paso Taco seasoning mix
  • fresh chopped onions
  • 4 more ozs shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Mix all but last cheese.
  2. Place in baking dish sprayed with cooking spray.
  3. Add rest of cheese and bake at 350 for 30 mins.

Heavenly Hash

Heavenly Hash a.k.a. Rocky Road

GranJean would regularly make this to take to family parties.
Ingredients
  • 1 12 oz. package semisweet chips
  • 1 can condensed milk
  • 1 lb. miniature marshmallows
  • 1 c. pecan halves or pieces
Instructions
  1. Melt chocolate pieces in large saucepan at 150 degrees.
  2. Stir until smooth and creamy.
  3. Remove from heat and slowly stir in sweetened condensed milk.
  4. Add marshmallows and pecans.
  5. Drop by tablespoonfuls on greased cookie
  6. sheets.
  7. Chill until firm.
  8. Yield: 36 pieces.
